Education is Your First Line of Defense.

The Personal Injury Clock is Ticking

For most negligence-based personal injury claims, like car accidents or slip and falls, the time limit (statute of limitations) to file a lawsuit is now two years from the date the injury occurred. Acting promptly preserves your rights.

DUI: Not Just a Ticket

A DUI conviction carries mandatory minimum penalties that can impact your freedom, finances, and driving privileges significantly. Even a first offense can result in jail time, hefty fines, and license suspension. We’ll take over your case and help you get the best possible outcome.

Your Rights When Accused of a Crime

If you're accused of a crime, you have constitutional rights, including the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney. Exercising these rights is not an admission of guilt; it's a protection afforded to you under the law. We work to protect those rights.

Business Contracts: The Devil's in the Details

In business dealings, a well-drafted contract is paramount. Vague terms or unaddressed contingencies can lead to costly disputes. That’s where we come in—we ensure your agreements clearly outline obligations, payment terms, and dispute resolution methods.

Buying a Franchise? Scrutinize the FDD.

The Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) is your primary source of information about a franchise opportunity. The FTC Franchise Rule generally requires a franchisor to give you its FDD at least 14 calendar days before you sign a binding agreement or pay any money (16 CFR 436.2(a)). We’ll walk you through it so there are no surprises.

No-Fault Insurance Explained

Florida vehicle owners must carry Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance. Regardless of fault, PIP generally pays 80% of reasonable, medically necessary medical expenses (if you get initial treatment within 14 days) and 60% of lost income, up to $10,000; medical benefits are limited to $2,500 if a qualifying provider determines you did not have an emergency medical condition. However, to sue an at-fault driver for further damages, your injuries must meet a "serious injury" threshold. We’ll evaluate your case to see if it meets this threshold.

Your Questions, Answered.

Frequently Asked Questions for Floridians.

How much does it cost to hire Gross Law Group?

A free consultation is your opportunity to tell us about your legal issue and for us to give you an initial assessment. We'll listen to your story, ask some questions, and explain how Florida law might apply to your circumstances. We'll also discuss how our firm might be able to help and what the next steps could look like. There's no obligation to hire us afterward. It's about getting you information, first and foremost.

My business is being sued. What’s the first thing I should do?

Write down the date you were served and find your response deadline right away. In Florida state court, a defendant generally has 20 days after service to respond to a complaint, and in federal court generally 21 days, so waiting can mean a default. Keep every related document and email, tell your business insurer, and don't contact the other side about the dispute until you have talked with a lawyer.

I was injured in a car accident in Florida. Do I really need a lawyer if I have PIP insurance?

Not always. Florida PIP coverage generally pays up to $10,000 for medical and disability benefits regardless of fault, and you usually must get initial medical treatment within 14 days of the accident to use it. PIP does not pay for pain and suffering, and a claim against the at-fault driver for those damages is limited to injuries that meet Florida's permanent-injury threshold. A lawyer can help you decide whether your injuries and the available insurance make a claim worth pursuing.

What's the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony in Florida?

Under Florida law, a misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in a county jail, while a felony is punishable by more than one year in state prison (Fla. Stat. § 775.08). Felonies are graded as third, second, or first degree (up to 5, 15, or 30 years), and misdemeanors as first or second degree (up to one year or 60 days). A felony conviction can also bring lasting consequences, such as losing the right to vote until certain conditions are met and losing the right to possess firearms.

I want to buy a franchise. Can you just look over the agreement?

Yes. We review the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) and the franchise agreement together, because the FDD explains the fees, obligations, litigation history, and franchisee turnover that the agreement locks in. You'll receive a plain-English explanation of the key risks and terms that may be negotiable before you sign. See our FDD Review page for what's included.
